I spent this weekend in Telluride riding with my brother. Actually I stayed in Ridgway, about 45 min away, with some family friends. But, my brother Rio lives in Telluride and knows all the good spots so it ended up being a great weekend, even with the lack of new snow. On Saturday we spent most the day in the Prospect Bowl. We hiked the Black Iron Bowl a few times because that is where the most snow was. Itâ€s a great run with a very steep start and a few medium sized rocks/cliffs that are a lot of fun to drop. Most people are unwilling to make the twenty min hike, so there is snow there all day.
On Sunday there was still no new snow, so we really had to work hard to find powder stashes. Luckily we hit the jackpot. We took the Revelation Lift up and the Gold Hill Chutes 7-9 were open. My brother said that was very rare (he has been riding there for a few years now and that was the first time he has seen it open). A bunch of people had beaten us to the top, so the chutes were a little skied off, but where the chutes opened there was a foot of soft snow everywhere (very fun to do some fast turns). Telluride is one the best mountains Colorado has to offer, and there are barley any lines as long as it's not a tourist weekend/break.
